March 12, 2016. One of the great things about Fontainebleau State Park is the abundance of wildlife and their comfort with people. The deer that make Fontainebleau their home are no exception. With little effort, one can maneuver close enough to make some wonderful photographs. Today, a small herd of five deer slowly moved across the road through a swollen stream into an open field. Each deer feeding on the vegetation as they moved across the open field. Once at the wood line the deer fed on green leafy vines stretching up towards the sun. Continuing to move slowly towards the herd I was able to go into a kneeling position within 15 yards, viewing each moment through my lens. The herd ignored my presence. They meandered about feeding and occasionally stopping long enough for grooming or a quick glance around. The deer one by one disappeared into the dense green forest ending my photo shoot.
